Grand Marshal Winner- Sharon Fisher Patterson

Mount Angel Chamber of Commerce announces this year’s 4th of July Grand Marshall Winner: Sharon Fisher Patterson.


Who is Sharon Fisher Patterson? She lives in Georgia now but will be returning to Mount Angel for the Leonard and Marie Fisher family reunion. She graduated from JFK high school in 1967. Her sister Char Unrein of Mount Angel purchased a raffle ticket for her. Sharon’s parents Leonard and Marie (Ebner) Fisher owned Fisher Pharmacy in Mount Angel. She and her husband moved to Georgia in 1979. She worked for Macy's Department stores for 25 years before retiring.

As grand marshal, Sharon and her family will be first in the 2008 “America the Beautiful” Mount Angel 4th of July Parade, award the grand marshal prize to best entry, 4 chicken dinners after the parade, reserve seating for the Marion County Volunteer band and dessert for four. She will also announce the start of the Mount Angel Fireworks.

The Mount Angel chamber of Commerce would like to thank all businesses that donated to our firework display. Thank you to all who bought raffle tickets. 100% of the purchase price goes to the firework display. If you’d like a chance to be Grand Marshall for 2009, entries will be available at JFK High School stadium on July 4th. Next year’s winner will be announced on June 14th (flag day) 2009.

The fireworks will be at JFK high school stadium at dust, following the Marion County Volunteer Band performance starting at 8:30pm. The high school football field has recently been reseeded and maintenance work continues during the summer. The school asks the public to be careful of all cones and taped off areas. Please no fireworks on school grounds. and no bikes or strollers on the track.

A few updates/ changes

Thank you to all food vendors.

Please be aware the following has changed:
1. BREAKFAST- location has changed to Mount Angel Middle school located on Marquam street- time is still 7-9am.
2. LUNCH- still after the parade- but choice of chicken or ribs on the menu
3. EVENING- Knights of Columbus booth opens at 7:00pm not 6:00pm as stated in flier.

Megan Grant has agreed to sing the national anthem prior to the parade. Thank you Megan!

Grand Marshall raffle

Would you like to be in a Parade? Would you like to honor a mother, father, friend, employee, etc.? Mount Angel Chamber of Commerce is holding a raffle. The winner is the Grand Marshall of the 4th of July Parade! All proceeds go to fireworks!

The Grand Marshall will be first in the parade riding in a convertible, twenty pounds of candy to throw or not to throw. One hundred beaded necklaces, Award Grand Marshall prize to best parade entry, and keep Honorary Grand Marshall banner. Four dinners after the parade, reserved seating for the Marion County Volunteer band, dessert for four and announce the start of the Mount Angel Fireworks.

8. Marion County Citizen’s Band 8:30-9:30p.m.
